A customer’s tale: Smit Lamnalco

Smit Lamnalco is our first client. For over 12 months, we support the in-house legal department with our legal admin services. A great moment to ask our liason, Mercy Gonzalez (corporate counsel Smit Lamnalco), a couple of questions:

What is your role within Smit Lamnalco?

I am responsible for the legal administration of Smit Lamnalco. The company is active in towage and related marine services. We use the services of Legal Manager for all administrations currently managed by our department:

• legal entities
• contracts
• vessels
• legal spend

I work on a daily basis with the Legal Manager Support Desk to make sure that all changes are booked accordingly.

What is your main challenge in this collaboration?

When we started with Legal Manager, the main challenge was the transfer of the required knowledge of our business specifics. The administration of the legal entities and legal spend was basically standard, but our portfolio of business contracts and vessels require more in-depth knowledge on the side of Legal Manager. Today I feel we have control over our data and we have a clear insight into our legal KPIs.

Any plans for future improvements?

Our next goal with Legal Manager is further developing and utilizing other possibilities of the system to also allow it to serve our internal business partners’ needs. Legal Manager will assist with the design and implementation needed and the optimal utilization to achieve this.
